Why Do You Read?

As I left school today, I couldn't help think about Monday, and how excited I am to return to a class as passionate about reading as all of you are!  The amount of reading that has taken place in our classroom has been amazing...truly amazing.  But, have you ever thought about WHY do you read?  What do you get out of it?

In a few years, you will be out of school...will you still read then?  I certainly hope so...I hope you blossom into readers for the rest of your life.  Anyway, take a look at the video below...and maybe post a comment...WHY DO YOU READ???

  4. I know exactly what you mean! I think with the exception of the Harry Potter movies (which are REALLY well done, but still aren't as good as the books), most books that are made to movies usually fail to meet the expectations that I have set....or like you said, it's not as good as the movie I made for myself.
Just recently, I think Percy Jackson and the Wimpy Kid movies are perfect examples. On their own, decent movies...especially Percy Jackson, with its special effects. But, both trailed the books, in my opinion. Yet ANOTHER reason why reading rocks...books are better than the movie!

  5. Exactly my point.,,,Like with the Percy Jackson series(I finished it,Yayy)The movie SUCKED compared to the book.Like they got an actress that didn't even look like how Anabeth Chase was supposed to look like.Annabeth was supposed to have BLONDE hair not Dark Brown. The also skipped like five parts.I am such a big reader that i pay attention to every single word in the book.Which means all the details, and etc..It's sad when I see a movie and it's doesn't even look remotely close the what I had pictured.
