About Mr. Sheridan

From 2011-09-17
Well, you've found me.  And, if you've found me, you've found our class website.  Many of you have been here before, and I hope that you will continue to visit here frequently.

Well, what is there to know about me?  Let's see...I was born in Patchogue, NY (on the south shore of Long Island) and moved upstate when I was 11 years old (yes, midyear in sixth grade - so, to all of you who have changed schools, I unfortunately know what it is like to be the "new kid").  Growing up on Long Island introduced me to my first love - the New York Mets.  (and yes, I take a lot of grief for being a Mets fan...)
Heck, growing up, I wanted to be the Third Baseman for the Mets, but unfortunately around age 14 they invented a curveball, and I quickly realized that teaching would be my future.  Years later, here I am, doing what I love to do.

Let's see...what else?  I graduated from the University of Albany with a degree in American History and Political Theory (Fun, I know!).  I worked in Special Education for 3 terrific years as I completed my Masters Degree in Childhood Education.  That is how I arrived at Elmer Avenue - I am in my seventh of hopefully many wonderful years.  I love the school, I love the community - I can't imagine having a better job.

What else is there?
In April of 2009 my son Liam was born (he's that little fella above on my lap). He's growing up fast...too fast!!
Hobbies: traveling, reading, watching the Mets, Islanders, Giants and Knicks.  I like to cook, especially grilling, when the weather is nice.

Favorite Books: The Great Gatsby, A Tale of Two Cities, To Kill a Mockingbird

Places I'd Like to Visit: Australia, Czech Republic, South Africa
