Well, summer is certainly in full swing - and the weather has been great!  Hope you're all having fun, getting outside, and reading (of course!).

Anyway, stop in and drop a line...and allow me to leave you with a wonderful rendition....

  1. That's a great video Mr Sheridan! Our Year 6 class in Adelaide, Australia liked it so much that we made our own: http://bit.ly/R1HmEY

We'd love to get in touch when you get back to school!

    1. Thanks-and welcome!! Sometimes I'll use the blog here to post funny things-my sixth graders had a love for Sesame Street, and they used to tease me about liking that song, so it was perfect!

Thanks for stopping by-i would love to be able to connect with your class at sometime this year-you said Year 6-how old are they?
      Good luck!!

  2. In South Australia, Year 6's are 11-12 years old. What sort of broad topics will you be studying this year?

  3. Ok - same here. Im in Schenectady, NY, USA (About three hours north of New York City).

We work on progressing reading and writing skills, learning how to further their deeper understanding of literature.

In history, we look at Ancient Civilizations - Mesopotamia, Egypt, Greece, Rome, Byzantine, etc.

And in math, we look are a bridge between things like fractions, decimals, etc and algebra, so a lot of pre-algebra concepts, etc.

    And you?

  4. This term (3) we are looking at the clash between Australian Aboriginal and European cultures at the time of colonisation. Our Mathematics and English classes are pretty much the same. We will be publishing ancient Aboriginal stories and sharing them on out blog, so I'll make sure I let you know when that's up.

Next term (Oct-Dec) we will be looking at digital citizenship and would love to connect with your class in some way. Have you done this kind of thing before?

  5. We dont start back until early September, and end in late June. I dont know what my class looks like for next year, but I would love to be able to hook up our two classes for some type of connection.

I have never done a lesson on digital citizenship - id love to hear what you have in mind for your students. Is there a better way to contact you, other than this? (Skype chat, twitter, email, etc?)
