Thank You.....

Class,

Just a few words (I bet you've heard THAT before!)....

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for everything this year. Thank you for your kindness, your effort, your determination, your friendships, for your respect, and for everything that I could NEVER put in words.

It was a terrific and challenging year.  I guess you could call it "terrifically challenging"....I hope you learned from me, because I certainly learned from you.  The day that I don't learn something is the day I hang them up.

As we leave, I implore you to remember the good times from Elmer.  It has been my privilege to be a part of your lives these past 10 months.  My door is always open for you...please keep in touch.  I look forward to seeing what fine young men and women you will certainly become.

Take care,

Mr. Sheridan

Genius!

And on this note, good night! Enjoy the genius of Calvin and Hobbes. :)

"Hello Kitty"...in Space???

Ok, ok....if you haven't seen this, you should watch this immediately.  When I saw this over the weekend, I was originally entertained by it....until I read about the story, and realized that the entire project was designed and implemented by a 13-year old SEVENTH grade student!!

Lauren Rojas, a student at Cornerstone Christian Academy in Northern California, had a goal in mind : to send up a high-altitude weather balloon, complete with video cameras, to record the events.  Adding to the experiment was a special passenger - her faithful Hello Kitty doll, one she had since she was very young.

Watch the results below, and keep in mind what determination and hard work can get you!!

Pennies for Patients

Hi all - we talked yesterday in class about February's "Pennies for Patients" campaign.  As many of you know, Elmer Avenue has been raising money for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society for many years.  As a school, we have continuously raised a good amount of money for this important cause.  Many students in Grade 6 remember Jack, a student who used to attend Elmer Avenue who fought and won a courageous battle with leukemia.  Unfortunately, there are many, many families that need some assistance when dealing with this tragedy - and every penny can help.

For the last two years, I have been overwhelmingly proud to say that our class has raised the most amount of money - many of us understand the devastation that cancer can have on a family.  I know times are tough, but any spare change you have would be appreciated.  There will be a glass jar on my desk for the change.
