Oil Spill
Wow--this oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico is getting bad. The first effort (the oil dome) didnt work - and now the plan is stuff it with trash? Ground up tires and golf balls? Maybe another dome?
BBC - Oil leak
Well, as normally does, curiosity has gotten the best of me. I found a neat website that compares the size of the oil spill to the size of your town...so, naturally, I entered Schenectady. This oil spill is huge--take a look:
Wow. Huge....and getting bigger each day. The impact that the oil spill will have is enormous...killing animals, destroying the water, the environment, everything.
A website called the "Louisiana Bucket Brigade" is starting to collect real-life stories from people and businesses in Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, etc. Check it out.
And finally, below, is a picture (infographic) from British Petroleum, the company who is responsible for the spill, and their efforts to fix the leak. Pretty neat--i had no idea it was that deep.
Tragic....interesting to see how this unfolds.
